Stage Report: Grease

Ok, so I am finally recovering from my crazy Johnny's weekend. Beginning with NEWS and ending with Ikuta Toma starring as Danny in Grease!!!!!!!!

On to the pictures and report!!!!







I got to Aoyama Theater a little after 1pm, and there weren't that many people waiting (probably because it was a Monday). So I just walked right in, bought my pamphlet, and




The play was about 2 1/2 hours long, and it was really good. I have not seen Grease on broadway or anything, but I think the way they adapted the words was great! The set was pink and decorated with things reminiscent of the 50's (i forgot to take a pic when it started, so all I got was this one of the mirror ball wall during intermission. The cool thing was the back wall opened up to show the live band and Vince would appear every once in a while through an old microphone cut out everytime the radio was played.

The play started with a moonlight backdrop and the shadows of Sandy and Danny, on the last day of summer, talking about how this isn't the end, and that it's only the beginning.

Plus, Toma was waaaaaay hot! I was really glad to be able to see him dance and sing. He was in his Johnny's self, but very cool (which is unlike the Toma we have been seeing lately), I think he took on the Danny character very well. I think there was only one or two times where he was silly, but that comic relief is always welcome.

Kinicke didn't seem to have a bigger role than Doody and the other TBirds. But he did have his time to shine. He's a Johnny's right?

The rest of the cast was really good. Sayaka was really cute.... she along with all of the pink ladies had really good voices.

I think "Grease Lightning" was the best number. The guys did a really good job, and the dance sequence was very cool, and had a more modern flare to it.

My only negatives are that "Hopelessly Devoted" was not sung and the dance sequence with Chacha wasn't all that great.

After the show I went and took pix of the flower in the lobby...



there were some from every Johnny's magazine, and a bunch of different TV show stations along both sides of the theater. It was really nice, but I think the flowers were starting to die. haha.

I took pix of the toma parts of the pamphlet, but I have no scanner, so the quality is not good. Just a peak for those of u who would like to see it.

Wow, that's amazing *A* He doesn't look at all (bad) like I thought he would look like...is there any way Toma can NOT be hot?

I hope they'll sell a DVD of one of the performances, so I can see it. :3

hehe. i had to be sly with my keitai!
the stupid phones in japan make noises when u take pix, and there's no way to turn it off!!!

Actually I wanted to go, too (I live in Japan, but pretty far away from Tokyo or Osaka). Can you please tell me where you got the tickets for the show? I couldn't find any, that's the main reason why I didn't go in the end ;__;

u could either call in, or get it at the conbini.

The tix sold out within an hour or so, and it took me 1/2 an hour to buy it through the machine. I thought I wasn't going to get it!

AWWWWWWWWWW U WENT TO SEE GREASE AND TOMA!!! That's super awesome! And yes Toma is super hot in those! I love him in musicals...(and dramas and so on) but i think watching a musical/play always has a more exciting feeling. :)

Thanks so much for your report and pics!!

I think an energy and perfomance of Toma on stage is something that just needs to be seen live. You're so lucky!!

And anticipating on more 'Toma' parts coming up... :)
